The all-new Dodge® Nitro lineup has been revised for 2012, offering new exterior and interior styling and new standard features and safety and security equipment. New models Heat, Detonator and Shock provide Nitro customers with more standard content and style with 20-inch aluminum wheels, sunscreen glass and monochromatic exterior paint. The interior of the five-passenger Dodge Nitro is spacious, functional and flexible for people and cargo. Dodge Nitro has innovative cargo flexibility with fold-flat front-passenger and second-row seats. Second-row seats recline for added passenger comfort.

UConnect Technology

With smart systems like Uconnect, it brings you the most tech-friendly features in it's class. The available touch-screen uconnect gps with navigation provides entertainment, information, and communication all through an AM/FM radio. A 30GB hard drive allows you to store photos, playlists, maps, and points of interest, as well as rip, stash, organize, and shuffle upwards of 4,200 digital music files from CDs, integrated USB port, or auxiliary input jack. A 6.5-inch touch-screen LCD monitor with full-color enhanced graphics and DVD capability lets you move seamlessly through uconnect functions. The 2012 Dodge Nitro features a performance suspension for improved cornering and increased traction and an independent front and five-link rear suspension system. Two V-6 engines are offered:

 

• 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 delivers 210 hp (157 kW) @ 5,200 rpm and 235 lb.-ft. (360 N•m) of torque @ 4,000 rpm
• 4.0-liter SOHC V-6 delivers 260 hp (194 kW) @ 6,000 rpm and 265 lb.-ft. (359 N•m) of torque @ 4,200 rpm

 

Safety and Security

 

Dodge reset the curve. Nitro has a performance-tuned suspension that was altered for better performance to suit on-road drivers. The independent front suspension gives the driver an optimum combination of ride, handling and steering, which provides a greater sense of control and precision. The solid five-link rear suspension, including upper and lower trailing links and track bar, provides higher lateral stiffness for vehicle responsiveness and outstanding handling.

Standard safety and security features include four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes (ABS), Brake assist, all-speed traction control, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic-roll Mitigation (ERM), front-row active head restraints and front and side-curtain air bags.

 

Detonator

 

The Dodge Nitro Detonator packs a punch with 23 percent more horsepower and 12 percent more torque than the Dodge® Nitro Heat model. With its standard aluminum 4.0-liter overhead cam V-6 engine, the Nitro Detonator delivers 260 horsepower (194 kW) and 265 lb.-ft. (359 N*m) of torque to the road with a five-speed automatic transmission. The new Dodge Nitro Detonator model features 20-inch platinum-clad aluminum wheels, eight premium speakers with subwoofer, remote start and Parksense® rear-park assist.

 

Shock

 

The Dodge Nitro® Shock adds unique 20-inch aluminum premium-painted wheels, heated leather seats and a sun roof to the Nitro Detonator model.
