2018 Ram 1500 vs 2018 Chevrolet Silverado near Augusta, GA

Finding the perfect pickup truck that can both tow everything you need it to, and maintain a comfortable interior, can be a challenging task that can lead to a lot of added stress. That is why we’re here! We’ve chosen the top two vehicles in the pickup truck segment that we are going to pit against each other to find the one that truly comes out on top. Those two vehicles are the 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. Both of these trucks are incredibly capable, but we know you’re not looking to buy one of each. To start, the Ram 1500 has added two new trim levels, the Harvest and Limited Tungsten, and a rearview camera as a standard feature on every model. Ram has even updated their 8.4-inch infotainment system for even more functionality. Chevrolet has made a 7-inch touchscreen and a rearview camera standard for the 2018 model year, along with making a mild-hybrid eAssist package optional nationwide, instead of being contained to a few areas. Want to learn more about who comes out on top? Continue reading down below.

2018 Ram 1500 Power & Handling

One of the biggest benefits of buying a Ram 1500 are the three different engines that are offered. That means you have plenty of options, especially in terms of what you intend on using your Ram 1500 for. The first engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that generates 305 horsepower. The second engine is a turbo diesel 3.0-liter V6 that creates 240 horsepower. The third option is a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that generates 395 horsepower. Every engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and you can choose between 2WD and 4WD. However, the Hemi engine comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission, although you can choose the eight-speed option.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado Power & Handling

There are three engine options offered with the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The first of these is the 4.3-liter V6 Flex-Fuel that creates 285 horsepower. The second engine is a 5.3-liter V8 Flex-Fuel that generates up to 355 horsepower. The third and final option is a 6.2-liter V8 Flex-Fuel which produces 420 horsepower. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic, although that changes to an 8-speed automatic with the higher engines. You can also choose between 2WD and 4WD on every engine. There is no diesel option, and none of these engines are that fuel efficient.

2018 Ram 1500 Features & Design

There is really no competing with the Ram 1500 when it comes to trim levels. The 2018 Ram 1500 comes with eleven trim levels! There really is no change for the Silverado. Some of the base features, that you’ll find with either the Tradesman or the Express, include flexible bed and cab configurations, a hitch, 20-inch wheels, body-colored exterior trim, a spray-in bed liner, cruise control, and carpeting. The Big Horn trim comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 110-volt power outlet, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. One of the higher trims, the Laramie Longhorn, comes with upgraded leather upholstery, keyless entry and ignition, a navigation system, remote start, wood interior trim, and front and rear parking sensors.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado Features & Design

On the flip side of things, there are only six trim level options for the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The base trim, WT, comes with a rearview camera, black front and rear bumpers, a driver information display, 17-inch steel wheels, manually adjustable mirrors, a tilt-only steering column, and LED daytime running lights. The LT trim comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, alloy wheels, satellite radio, an upgraded driver information display, body-colored door handles and mirrors, vinyl floor mats, and an eight-inch touchscreen. One of the more luxurious options is the High Country, which comes with a navigation system, a spray-on bed liner, front and rear parking sensors, ventilated front bucket seats, carpeted floor mats, wireless phone charging, and a 7-speaker Bose audio system.

There are many reasons to love both of these pickup trucks, and we know rivalries can loom large. However, it seems clear to us that the 2018 Ram 1500 is a truck that gives you not only powerful engine options, but a stunning display of trim level options. There is no competing with eleven unique options that help you further customize the Ram 1500 into the truck of your dreams.
