2019 Jeep Cherokee vs 2019 Honda CR-V near Augusta, GA

In the market for a new SUV but don’t know where to start? We’re here to hopefully make the process easier than ever! In order to do so, we’ll be checking out two of the top SUVs on the market–the 2019 Jeep Cherokee and the 2019 Honda CR-V. Both of these SUVs offer their own unique set of features, but which one is better? To start, the Jeep Cherokee features an upgraded infotainment system, a brand new engine option, and an all-new exterior look! The Honda CR-V remains very similar to the previous model year, although it still features a roomy interior, thoughtful storage, and a comfortable ride. This is just the start, which means we have plenty of other features to go over. Continue reading down below to find out which of these SUVs you should be driving home in.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

Jeep has always been at the forefront of power and capability. They continue this tradition with the 2019 Cherokee which now features three available engines. The first option is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, which offers 171 lb-ft of torque and 180 horsepower. Another engine to consider is a 3.2-liter V6, which features 239 lb-ft of torque and 271 horsepower. The last option, which is new in 2019, is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which can get you up to 295 lb-ft of torque and 270 horsepower. Connected to all of these engines is a nine-speed automatic transmission. You’ll also have the opportunity to choose between either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on your needs.

2019 Honda CR-V Power & Handling

Honda has never been particularly known for power, and the CR-V is available with only two engine options. The first is a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, which gives you up to 184 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. The second engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder, which creates around 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. You’ll also be able to choose from front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, depending on your needs. The transmission is just a standard CVT, which is all well and good, but this isn’t a vehicle to choose if you’re looking for something that can even pretend at being sporty.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

Not only does Jeep come out on top with the engine lineup, you’ll also be able to choose between five trim levels. Standard features, found with the Latitude trim, include a 7-inch touchscreen interface, height-adjustable front seats, a 6-speaker audio system, a folding front passenger seat, automatic xenon headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a USB port, Bluetooth, 60/40-split folding rear seatback, and a rearview camera. Another option, Limited, includes features like leather upholstery, rear cross-traffic alert, an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a power front passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, 18-inch wheels, rear parking sensors, heated front seats, and an upgraded driver information display. The most luxurious option, Overland, is a leather-wrapped instrument panel, ventilated front seats, cornering lights, a nine-speaker audio system, HD radio, a power-adjustable passenger seat, unique body-colored exterior trim, and driver-seat memory settings.

2019 Honda CR-V Features & Design

There are only four trims, and a complete lack of options, available with the CR-V. Standard features, on the LX trim, include a four-speaker audio system, 17-inch alloy wheels, a height-adjustable driver seat, two USB ports, cruise control, a 5-inch color display, Bluetooth, automatic climate control, LED running lights, and a rearview camera. Another trim, known as EX, comes with features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, rear privacy glass, heated front seats, an upgraded rearview camera, a 7-inch touchscreen, fog lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, keyless entry and start, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The highest available model, Touring, adds a subwoofer for the audio system, a navigation system, dual chrome exhaust tips, automatic wipers, ambient interior lighting, LED headlights, a hands-free power liftgate, and roof rails.

Conclusions

The winner is clear. Not only has the 2019 Jeep Cherokee overtaken the CR-V with its power and capabilities, but the CR-V also can’t keep up with standard and available features. In short, the 2019 Cherokee manages to find the perfect balance between sporty fun and a family-friendly everyday driver.
