2019 Jeep Compass vs 2019 Ford Escape near Augusta, GA

Shopping for SUVs can be a hassle. There are so many brands with so many models its hard to know which one is the best. Fortunately, we are here to help make your decision a little easier by comparing two of the best SUVs on the market, the Jeep Compass and the Ford Escape. One the left is the impeccable, off-road capable Jeep Compass and on the right is the Ford Escape, read on to see which one comes out on top!

2019 Jeep Compass Power & Handling

The Jeep Compass comes with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission on the Sport and Latitude trims, or a nine-speed automatic transmission when you move up to the Trailhawk. All Compasses equipped with an automatic transmission also come with stop/start technology which will idle the engine when it comes to a complete halt, thereby improving fuel economy. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Compass with the option of four-wheel-drive, and when equipped with four-wheel-drive, the Compass can tow up to 2,000 pounds.

2019 Ford Escape Power & Handling

There are three engine options available for the 2019 Ford Escape. The base-level Escape S comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque with front-wheel-drive only. The SE and the SEL use a 1.5-liter four-cylinder with an EcoBoost with front-wheel-drive still being the standard, but these trims give you the option of all-wheel-drive. This engine gives you a 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. The last engine option comes with the highest-level Titanium model and its a 2.0-liter with the same four-cylinder setup. The Ford Escapes EcoBoost system is delightful and does save on gas but pales in comparison to Jeeps stop/start technology.

2019 Jeep Compass Features & Design

The Jeep Compass comes in four trim levels, each with a ton of exciting features and options. The base-level Sport comes with 16-inch wheels, air conditioning, and a 7-inch Uconnect touchscreen with Bluetooth, a USB port, and a six-speaker sound system. Higher-level trims come with keyless ignition and entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, larger wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a larger 8.4-inch Uconnect Touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top-level Trailhawk is one of the best off-road vehicles around, and it comes with off-road capable equipment such as 17-inch wheels with off-road-oriented tires and a raised suspension with a Selec-Terrian system to help it crawl over any surface. The Trailhawk continues its off-road features with red tow hooks and underbody skid plates.

2019 Ford Escape Features & Design

Like the Jeep Compass, the Ford Escape also comes in four trim levels with some good options. The base-level S gets you 17-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, cruise control, and air conditioning. Tech features include a rearview camera and a 4.2-inch central display with Bluetooth, CD Player, and a USB port. Higher trim levels provide you with foglights, a keyless entry pad, push-button ignition, dual-zone climate control, rear air vents, heated front seats, and cloth upholstery. At the top-level is the Titanium comes with 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, remote start, xenon headlights, and driver-seat memory settings. None of the trims for the Ford Escape provide you with off-road equipment.
