What engines are there to choose from?
In 2020 the RAM 1500 comes with a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel with 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque giving the RAM a 14 percent increase in torque and an 8 percent increase in horsepower. Not only does this new EcoDiesel engine allow for an improved fuel economy; it also allows the RAM to tow 12,560 pounds with a payload capacity of 2,300 pounds and for the first time you can find this fantastic EcoDiesel technology in the RAM 1500 Rebel. If you choose not to go with the EcoDiesel, the 2020 RAM 1500 also has the option of a 5.7-liter V8 engine.

About the EcoDiesel Engine
The EcoDiesel V6 uses dual overhead camshafts with four valves per cylinder and a 60-degree angle between the cylinder banks, while the block is cast in graphite iron providing strength to dampen vibrations. There are several changes to the RAMs EcoDiesel engine that help give it an improved dynamic as well as a better fuel economy. An exhaust gas recirculation system design has been updated to a low and high-pressure system which allows the EcoDiesel to draw gases after the diesel particulate filter, thus minimizing energy losses and increasing fuel economy. Also included are high-pressure direct-injection fuel injector nozzles which are redesigned to match the newly designed and optimized combustion chamber. And lightweight aluminum alloy pistons are entirely redesigned to include thinner rings and low-friction coating on the pin and side skirts to reduce losses. These upgrades look to build on the EcoDiesel V6’s previous success which has won “Wards 10 Best Engines” for three consecutive years.
