Check Your Tires: Make sure you check both the tire air pressure and tread of all four tires. You don’t want to find out your tread is worn when you end up with a flat tire far from home. It’s also important to make sure you have the right tires for your drive, especially if you are going to encounter weather that you are not used to. 

Dress Comfortably and Pack Accordingly: No matter how long your holiday road trip is, you want to be comfortable, and having all your passengers dress comfortably as well is sure to reduce the amount of complaining and “are we there yet?” questions. You should also make sure to pack plenty of snacks to keep the hunger away and age-appropriate activities for the kids along for the ride. Watching a movie can only entertain them for so long! 

Create an Emergency Kit: Packing a kit that can solve any mishap or accident is vital to a good holiday road trip, especially if your destination is hours away from home. Things you should include in the kit are your standard first aid items, kitty litter for traction if you will be encountering snow, disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer, paper towels, jumper cables, hand warmers, bungee cords, and trash bags. 

Stop for Gas Often: You should aim to keep your gas tank at least half-filled throughout the entire trip. This helps avoid a frozen fuel line and ensure that you never run out of gas when you are miles away from the next gas station or in serious traffic.
