Jeep and the World Surfing League Team Up
In early May the World Surf League and Jeep Brand announced an unprecedented partnership, which will lead to a fantastic global effort in the coming years. The multi-year joining will make Jeep the exclusive and official global partner of the WSL, and it will allow the brand well known for its adventurous side to sponsor competitions and the athleticism of surfers everywhere.
This exclusive partnership is a unique collaboration between a brand that respects the athletic culture. A perfect match of attitude, beliefs and philosophy, Olivier Francois who serves as the Chief Marketing Officer for FCA Global, was thrilled with the partnership between Jeep and the WSL. Through this pairing, Jeep will be able to connect to a digital fan base through various means, connecting 120 million fans to surfing events throughout the globe. Fans who otherwise would not have access to an event taking place across the world will be able to see events via online streaming, whether they are taking place in the United States, Brazil, Australia, China, France or Japan. Francois called it the “first truly authentic global partnership” for the Jeep brand.
The President and CEO of the Jeep brand, Mike Manley, was thrilled with the “fantastic opportunity” available to both the Jeep brand and WSL. Both share similar values, with freedom, creativity and expression taking precedent as the most important parts of their brands. The sport of surfing translates the passion that Jeep feels for expanding on personal boundaries, and living every day to the fullest. Manley called the partnership a “natural fit”.
Jeep has a long history of support sports, with a longstanding partnership with USA Basketball and Juventus. Jeep has been a sponsor of the Winter X Games on ESPN for the past twelve years. With Jeep’s great experience and partnership within the sporting community, the brand is breaking new ground and will be taking the WSL across the world, with events taking place all over the globe. Among the tasks that Jeep will be taking on will be to sponsor the Tour Leaderboard, as well as the yellow Leader Jersey. Jeep will also award the two 2015 WSL champions at the end of the year with their own Jeep vehicle.
