2015 Ram Heavy Duty: Best Power, Towing, and Payload
The 2015 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty and Ram 3500 Heavy Duty will begin rolling off the assembly line this week. These all-new models mean the Ram brand now has best-in-class power, towing capacity, and payload capacity.
New for 2015, the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 both offer best-in-class performance. The 2015 Ram 2500 offers a best-in-class 17,970 pounds of towing capacity, and the new Ram 3500 offers an amazing 30,000 pounds of towing capacity – nearly 1.5 tons more than the closest competitor. The Ram 3500 also boasts a best-in-class payload capacity of 7,390 pounds. To top off the Ram brand’s position as “king of the hill,” the Ram 3500 is now available with a 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output Turbo Diesel I-6, which produces 865 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,700 RPM. That amount of torque isn’t just “best-in-class,” it’s more than Class 4 trucks!
Ram is also the only automaker to fully comply with SAE J2807 – standardized towing capacity tests laid out by the Society of Automotive Engineers, intended to ensure that claims of towing capacity are conducted fairly and representative of real-world performance.
