What’s New for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Augusta GA

There are two distinct lineups for the new Grand Cherokee, one with the classic powertrains we’ve seen in previous models, and the other with the new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology. For the first set of models, there are three possible powertrains available depending on the trim level you choose. First up, there’s the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which provides 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission and provides a hefty towing capacity of up to 6,200 pounds when properly equipped. Next up, there’s a 5.7-liter V8 which kicks out 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. This engine has an even greater towing capacity of 7,200 pounds, and pairs with the same TorqueFlite automatic. Both these engines also have a cylinder deactivation feature which will shut off certain cylinders if the Grand Cherokee is driving at a constant speed. Then, it’ll automatically re-engage all cylinders when the extra power is needed.

The 2022 Grand Cherokee is continuing the progress Jeep has made towards zero emissions that began with the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The hybrid version of the Grand Cherokee functions in a similar way, providing the innovative powertrain that combines a robust engine with electric power, resulting in up to 25 miles of emissions-free driving. Under the hood of the hybrid Grand Cherokee, you’ll find a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine, and two electric motors. The motors are connected to a 400-volt battery pack, and the system features te same tried and true TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. When driving a Grand Cherokee PHEV, you’ll have your pick of three possible drive modes. In Electric mode, you’ll be exclusively using power from the battery. In Hybrid mode, the Grand Cherokee will draw from both the battery, and the gas engine. This mode provides the most torque, as well as the quickest acceleration. Lastly, eSave mode will utilize the gas engine first, and conserve your battery for later on.

Continuing the legacy of Jeep’s well-known power and capability standards, the 2022 Grand Cherokee is sure to impress. Aside from its robust towing capacities provided by both engine options, the Grand Cherokee also offers a re-vamped version of the Trailhawk trim, with more features than ever before. The 2022 Trailhawk is Jeep Trail Rated, and comes with standard 4-wheel drive and the Quadra-Drive II system. It also has 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, Selec-Terrain Traction Management, and Hill-Descent Control, so that the Grand Cherokee can take on slippery surfaces. It also has athletic approach, breakover, and departure angles, and a maximum ground clearance of up to 11.3 inches with the help of the Quadra-Lift Air Suspension System. This extra lift also lends itself to a 24-inch water fording capability. To make the Trailhawk even better equipped, it comes with a black anti-glare hood decal, steel underbody skid plates, and the iconic red painted tow hooks, which come in blue on the hybrid model.

The new Grand Cherokee has a slightly different trim level lineup than the previous model year, and now features the Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, and Summit. There’s also the Altitude trim, which adds black accents to the basic framework of the Laredo, as well as the Summit Reserve, which adds even more refinement to the luxurious Summit trim. The Grand Cherokee has a five-seat layout, with Capri and Palermo leather upholstery, and wheels measuring up to 21 inches. All trim levels feature standard LED headlights, and features like a gloss black roof, and ambient interior lighting are available on upper trims. The Grand Cherokee also features the new Uconnect 5 system, and even offers a Front Passenger Interactive Display equipped with Amazone Fire TV. You’ll also find wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
